Here is where you will find all the latest information about Rutgers Women's Basketball, our Cagers "Huddles" with RUWBB Coaches, staff and others, special Cagers events and much more.
There have been quite a few changes to the roster since the season ended. Kiyomi McMiller, Lisa Thompson and Mya Petticord have moved on via the transfer portal. A number of new players are transferring in to Rutgers and two freshmen are joining the 13-member squad. We welcome back Antonia Bates, Zachara Perkins, Janae Walker, Kennedy Brandt and Deja Young from last year's team and are excited to meet the new team members. Check out the webpage for RUWBB to see the newcomers: scarletknights.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster
In addition to the new players, the sidelines will look different with the departure of assistant coaches Tasha Pointer, John Hampton and Johnetta Hayes. Chief of Staff Stephen Fishler has joined the staff at Virgina Tech. Replacing these staff members are some very seasoned coaches, and Nneka Enemkpali, who transitions from Assistant Coach to Chief of Staff. Rutgers' season was extended after the BIG 10 Tournament when the team was invited to play in the WNIT Tournament. They started the competition with a bye, advancing to the 2nd round and beating Army 71-60 at JMA on Sunday, March 23. RU faced the College of Charleston in the Super 16 on March 27 and came away with a dominant 89-67 win at home. It is worth noting that 6 players finished scoring in double digits, and Destiny Adams had a rare triple-double with 18 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. RU lost in the Great 8 round against Buffalo -- the eventual WNIT Champions -- in Buffalo on March 30, 71-64. Destiny Adams ended her Rutgers career with another double-double, finishing with a team-leading 26 points and 13 rebounds. Rutgers ended the 2024-25 season with a record of 13-20.
Previously, Rutgers made it into the B1G 10 Tournament but lost its first round game to Nebraska on March 5, ending the season with an overall record of 11-19. Destiny Adams recorded another double-double, leading the team in scoring with 25 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
The last regular season game was Sunday, March 2. Rutgers beat Penn State at JMA on Senior Night, as we celebrated our departing players: Chyna Cornwell, Awa Sidibe, Destiny Adams and JoJo Lacey. We owe a debt of gratitude to Chyna for spending her entire 5-year career with Rutgers, and special thanks to Awa Sidibe, who was with us for four years and numerous periods where injuries kept her on the sidelines. Destiny Adams scored more than 1000 points in her two years at Rutgers, and JoJo Lacey was a valuable addition to the squad.
Senior Destiny Adams was named the inaugural BIG 10 Player of the Week for her two consecutive double-doubles and for scoring 30 and 36 points against Cornell and NJIT, respectively. She continued with a double-double in game 4, with 28 points and 11 rebounds against Iona.
We look forward seeing alll of the Cagers cheering for the new, larger squad in 2025-26 and hope to see on-court success! joining the squad next year and improving on this season in 2025-26.
